New York Magician
Want to make your next party magical and
fun? Now you can add mystery, comedy and excitement to any event and
transform an ordinary event into a truly magical occasion. If you’re
looking for the best magician for your party I hope you’ll check out my
goofy video, read my stellar reviews and check your date now
before my calendar fills up!
But, if you like to read really long, dense puffery instead, pull up a
chair and enjoy …
The magic that I present in my show is not the kind of cheesy magic
tricks any buffoon with a credit card can buy at magic and joke
shop. I present the art of sleight-of-hand using nothing more
than ordinary objects, cunning psychological tactics and 10 very
talented fingers. You’ll be amazed at what you see. Regular
everyday objects vanish and reappear in a twinkling. Now you see
it now you don’t!
While there are many magicians who can fool you and comedians who can
make you laugh, there are few that can do both well. My style of
performance is called comedy magic. I bring together the art of
illusion and standup comedy to create a very funny and mystifying show
that will have your guests laughing and applauding. I’m also a master
of self-aggrandizement … but really, what else do you expect me to tell
you, the truth? I deceive people for a living, you wouldn’t believe me
anyway. (That’s why you should check out my reviews.)
Comedy & Magic – NYC Magician
I’ve performed as a comic at comedy clubs throughout the country. In
New York City alone I’ve appeared at Dangerfield’s, Caroline’s Comedy
Club, Stand Up New York, Gotham Comedy Club. I’ve appeared on NBC and
MTV and I’ve performed for quite a few A-List celebrities and Fortune
500 companies.
I started in magic when I was six years old when my sister bought me a
magic kit for Christmas. Later she’d take me to see the great
magician’s on Broadway like Doug Henning, Harry Blackstone Jr.,
Richiardi and Bobby Baxter. In high school I got a job working at magic
shop in Coney Island, Brooklyn where I got to learn hundreds of
tricks. During the summer I would perform street magic at New
York City’s Seaport and Central Park where I honed my skills as a
conjurer.
In sophomore year I started getting hired to do magic shows at private
parties and at seventeen I made my comedy club debut at the legendary
Pip’s Comedy Club. From there I went to work with a number of
great comedians and improv comedy groups. Somewhere along the way,
between then and now, I married my high school sweetheart and together we've
raised four terrific kids. Then I made a terrible mistake – I got a
real job.
There’s an old joke, “What’s the difference between a musician and a
pizza pie?” Answer, “A pizza pie can feed a family of four.” It’s true
for most performing artist, including magicians and comedians so I hung
up my rubber chicken and got a job on Wall Street. I ended up
with a pretty neat job in institutional trading and equity research but
I wasn’t happy, so I cashed it in and went back to pulling rabbits out
of hats for a living. Does that make me a Wall Street Wizard?
Now that I’m a full-time, professional magician I’m having a blast. I
perform all over New York City and Long Island as well as Westchester,
parts of New Jersey and Connecticut. I do a ton of parties every year
that range from kids parties, Sweet Sixteens, bar mitzvahs,
christenings, Communion parties, naming ceremony parties, anniversary
parties and family reunions. Did I mention block parties,
Halloween Parties, Christmas, Chanukah and Holiday Parties? I also do I
lot of work for corporations. Companies will hire me to do walk around
magic at client events, hospitality suites, trade show booths,
retirement parties, promotional and media events, product launches and
grand openings. And I even do magic at company picnics, award dinners.
No matter what type of party you are planning, I can add some fun and
excitement. I will dazzle and delight with deceptive digital
dexterity (how is that for hyperbole and alliteration?) If you’ve read
this far I congratulate you for reading more than the average American
does in a year.
Magic: It’s Not Just for Kids!
Somehow the illustrious art of magic has been exiled to the categories
of children’s entertainment and tacky Las Vegas lounge acts. Maybe it
was all the crummy birthday clowns, maybe it was all those cheesy
magicians in sequins and bad hairdos but magic has gotten a bum rap.
You’ll be surprised at how much fun your guests will have when they see
great magic performed for them right before their eyes. That’s because
a good magic show is all about entertaining and not just about fooling
the audience. I love performing magic for people close up, where they
are just inches away from the magic, and they’re completely astonished
and mystified.
Children’s Party Entertainment
Children’s parties are not child’s play. I know a lot of people think
that being a kid’s party entertainer takes less skill than performing
for adults. Not true. Magic is based upon the manipulation
of attention, perception and cognition. Any parent or teacher
will tell you how difficult it can be to keep children’s attention
focused where it should be. Kids have short attention spans, and are
getting shorter. Only a skilled performer can hold their attention and
captivate their imaginations for any length of time. One of the biggest
compliments I get is from educators who come up to me after the show
amazed at how I was able to keep the kids in the palm of my hand the
whole time.
A magic show should be full of surprises and variety. A good
magician will have lots of different types of tricks in order to keep
the children’s attention and get them fully engaged in the
presentation. That’s why I vary the pace and tempo of the show
and I mix in other variety arts. I combine magic with elements of
standup comedy, slapstick humor, sight gags, juggling, puppetry,
ventriloquism, and balloon sculpturing.
Magic Shows all Over New York and the Tri-State Area
But enough about me, let’s talk about your party or special
event. I travel all over New York (Brooklyn, Queens, Staten
Island, Manhattan, Bronx), Long Island (Nassau County, Suffolk County
and of course the Hamptons), Westchester County (Scarsdale, New
Rochelle, Rye, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Peekskill), New Jersey (Jersey
City in particular) and Connecticut. Yes, I do perform outside of
the tri-state area for corporate events and major private parties. Yes,
I’m available across the United States, Europe and Asia but I require
pretty darn swanky accommodations and first class travel.
